TREE TRIMMING

WHY IS TREE TRIMMING IMPORTANT?

1. Your Property Look Sharper

When it comes to landscaping, we may have our lawn pristine and flowers blooming. We mow regularly and plant in the springtime, but tree trimming should be an important part of your property maintenance routine as well. Some homeowners will trim their shrubs, which sit lower to the ground, but it can take some extra effort to prune trees — higher up, some may feel that getting on a ladder to take care of stray branches can be dicey.

2. Pruning is Good for Your Trees’ Health

It might be a small cost to prune your trees, but it’s certainly a far cheaper expense than removing your tree and planting a new one. Trees can live for decades and centuries, but they also have to be cared for. That includes sunlight and water, of course, but also proper trimming and pruning as overgrowth negatively affects the health of trees. Think of it this way: if you have a large houseplant with some browning petals or leaves, you’d easily snip those off. Those dead parts take water and important nutrients from the plant, killing off the rest of it over time. The same goes for trees, and so removing diseased or infested branches promotes healthy growth and keeps your yard looking full and vibrant.

3. A Trimmed Yard is a Safe Yard

Trimming off dead, dying or decaying branches maintains the beauty and longevity of your trees, but it also — most importantly — prioritizes safety. Damaged or disease-ridden branches can easily be snapped or blown off during storms, which means these high-up limbs can fall down and damage your property below. They can also be cast off and hit siding and windows, causing cracks and other dangerous blemishes.

We’ve all driven around after a wet or gusty storm and have seen power lines down or tree rubble blocking roads. Trimming can’t help ward off all of mother nature’s hazards, but it certainly can help mitigate property damage — and issues that can plague community services and streets.
